Weekly List

Stages of Me

1. I was born to two hippies in 1977.

2. No, really. Hippies.

3. We lived in a 100 year old house with no foundation. And all was well. Really well for dad, if you know what I mean.

4. I was loved mostly. Don't be scared by my dad's Jesus hair.

5. I had a bit of an attitude.

6. Then there was the complete inability to do the hair...along with the striking similarity to a 35 year old man: my father.

7. I don't know how to prepare you for this one; I'll just have to do it quick like a bandaid. Here's my "awkward stage". Uh, yeah. Lots of attention from boys here. So, imagine my delight when I started looking like this. And this. And then this.

8. Alot of drinking ensued. No, ALOT - love my yellow hair. Followed by good hair (I'm in the middle - and those are some high pants). And then really good hair.

9. Then I met him. And I liked it.

10. And he lured me with lots of shiny things.

11. Then we did this.

12. Then I my body went from this.

13. But, then I had this. Which turned into this. And then this. And this. Also this. Which makes us this.

*Thanks to Kelly for the inspiration.

Go figure, I'm attracted to men with Jesus hair. Must be the catholic school girl in me.

Posted by: Carrcakes | 03/23/2006 at 11:53 AM

Love it! Speechless except to say, LOVE IT!

Posted by: Chatty Kathy | 03/23/2006 at 12:26 PM

We have the same parents!!!! Exactly the same Dad. Are we related? Your parents, however, have changed. Mine, despite being divorced, have stayed somewhat the same (especially my dad). I recently HAD to cut my hair because it was looking EXACTLY like my father's hair. Have you seen "The Sweetest Thing"? The pic in #8 of you with two friends reminds me of when the girls crash a wedding... Especially the girl on the far right.Great 13. Thanks for sharing. I LOVE photo albums, even if I don't know the peeps, so this was wonderful.

Ha! I love all the pics. All 10,000 ;) I love that you had a sink full of flowers in your living room as a kid. That's just awesome. Your dad has a lot of hair. My dad did, too. Men and their hair.Your daughter is a doll! And I call Snickers "Doodlebug" all the time. Now you can sleep! ;)

Posted by: Freakren | 03/23/2006 at 01:37 PM

...And your daughter looks JUST like you!!!! I mean. JUST like you. I love this post Lena. We all get to see the transformation of Lena... Not to mention the transformation of Lena's Dad's hair! (which was fab in the 70's btw.) I love that you had hippie parents and I love even more that we owned the same exact clothes when we were kids! (Yeah. I had some of the same shirts as you.)Also glad to know that even someone as hot as you went through the "awkward" stage. At least you came out of it though. I cannot say the same. ;)

This was one of my favorite posts EVER!!! I loved everything about it. I had hippy parents and bad hair too! Oh, and your daughter's pictures absolutely melted my icy heart. It's in a puddle on the floor next to me right now.

Posted by: Jess Riley | 03/23/2006 at 03:18 PM

Oh Lena! That was so much fun walking down memory lane with you. Way cool! Thanks. *smileMy parents were hippies too, but darn it! ... I don't have any pics for proof. My parents moved so much so, that they ended up losing most of our family photos. Ah well.btw ... I like your natural hair color better than the blonde highlights. But, either way you look great.Have a terrific Thursday, Lena! Love ya!

What an awesome TT today! Loved it. Loved all the pics too. And I see you got your slammin' hot figure back- I'm jealous. I'm still working on getting back to my old hourglass figure after 2 kids...about 25 more lbs to go, *sigh*

Posted by: Courtney | 03/23/2006 at 04:11 PM

I have seen a lot in my brief time in the blog world, but this was beautiful. You've told a wonderful story. A very special history for your daughter, too! ;)

Posted by: Momma M | 03/23/2006 at 04:13 PM

Excellent post. And very brave. Don't we all go through an awkward stage? Mine was awful - don't think I could share it.... But will have to save that idea for a 13 in the future. WAY in the future. Thanks for seeing my 13.

Great idea, Lena! I looked at every single picture and enjoyed them immensely. I could never be so brave. Oh, and your hair has most definitely gotten better with age--especially compared to the pictures of you as a kid/teen.

I enjoyed your 13. I just posted one for the first time. I think I need a bit of help with the html. Can someone stop by and explain to me what is missing in the code. I don't seem to have the auto add boxes for people to leave there url in. thanks

Posted by: Autumn | 03/24/2006 at 12:25 AM

I can see why Virenda won't stop talking about you.

What a terrific post!!! I loved it - the picture of your parent's wedding was just gorgeous - (and yours too!!)

Posted by: Sam | 03/24/2006 at 03:16 AM

You are one of the most interesting people I've ever come across. I'd love to meet you one day, if these kids could just wipe their own asses already, maybe I would get a break!

Posted by: Chic Mommy | 03/24/2006 at 03:42 AM

Aww Lena - I LOVE it. And it is so reassuring to know I wasn't the only one with the big hair. And the older pics - SO cool! :) I think I'd rather have my parents look like "hippies" rather than my dad - who was sporting ALL grey by age 30. Everyone would ask if he was my grandpa, which would make me cry. lolI love your posts, Lena!

Posted by: Lisa | 03/24/2006 at 06:37 AM

Erm...1. My dad totally had Jesus hair. 2. I really envy your abs, sister.3. You and your fam are so prosh!
